This SH 01 Short Shank Bit is your step 2 horse bit when you horse is ready to graduate from the SH Oring Horse Bit. This Short Shank horse bit is the 2nd horse bit in the training series. It’s designed to have slight lift, minimal stop, and little gag to prevent pinching but still encourages a soft supple feel. This is the horse bit I use to transition out of the SH Oring horse bit to build confidence. This horse bit also works extremely well on finished light mouthed horses. Comes standard with an 6″ Shank. Available in a variety of mouthpieces.
Mouthpiece “N” is always in stock and ships immediately. All other mouthpieces are custom made and take 4-6 weeks to ship.

“Hi Sharin, Thank you for the follow up. I received my bit right before Memorial Day weekend. I used it at a two day run where we ran four time my horse loved it getting fast at each run we started off with an 18.43 and our final run was a 17.32. This fastest horse all weekend ran a 16.99. This is from a horse who has not ran in over a year (had back trouble was off for 6 months then rode very lightly for another 3 months) and is so very soft in her mouth you hardly have to touch the reins. Just tried the short shank twist with copper roller mouthpiece. I really liked how it lightened up my horse breaking at the poll but without making them overbridle. It really put my horse’s head in position to do whatever maneuver I require. It’s really well made and the twist has no sharp areas. Highly recommend
